Failures in fire risk management are often cited as a contributory factor in serious and fatal fires. UK fire safety legislation imposes extensive duties which can only be effectively achieved by means of an effective fire risk management system. It is now a legal requirement for all organisations, where the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies, to record their arrangements for managing fire safety.
As well as meeting legal responsibilities, a well implemented fire risk management system can provide additional benefits in terms of managing fire risks in a proportionate manner and providing assurance on risk management to stakeholders.
