The Grenfell Tower fire and the subsequent “Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety” led by Dame Judith Hackitt have resulted in systematic change in the building safety regime.
New legislation, new regulatory bodies, new systems/processes and new responsibilities have all been introduced. Although the primary focus is on safety in “higher-risk buildings”, the new regime will also have implications across the wider built environment.
With both new and existing duty-holder functions having legal responsibilities under the new regime, it is important that those who may be liable for these duties know and understand them.
