Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) target: 80% registered services using digital records

Deadline: March 2024

All “integrated care systems” (ICSs) and NHS trusts are aiming to have core digital capabilities, including electronic health records, in place by March 2025.

· Currently only 45% of social care providers have any form of digital care records

· No indication of what circumstances will make it acceptable to be in the 20% - likely to be where essential for accessibility to clients / micro services only

· it will become “increasingly difficult” for services to be rated (good or better) without digital records

· However, there should never be “technology for technology’s sake”
